ICHTHYOSIS - ANDRAS's Story

Dr Tirant first started to treat Andras mid 2002, when the condition of Andras's skin made it extremely difficult for the young boy to move at all without splitting his skin in several places.

Prior to any consideration being given to Andras coming to Australia for intensive treatment, he had to undergo several months of basic treatment in Hungary, so that the skin "shell" could be softened and removed to a certain degree.

Andras first came to Australia late 2002/early 2003 undergoing testing to various ointments, herbal tonics and trialing the Treatment Regime to find the best treatment that he responded to.

Andras came again to Australia, in early 2004. As he was older it was decided to introduce certain Dr Michaels oral medications to further assist his immune system and internal functions.

Again refinement and testing of the ointment was continued and further improvements gained

The treatment regime for Andras involves a daily 5 minute warm bath, usually in the evening, with alternating Cleansing gel and Skin Conditioner added to it.

Followed by application of Scalp & Body Ointment. This ointment/moisturizer is also applied in the morning and early afternoon to ensure optimum skin protection.

The regime also involves the taking of “Skin Intensive”, “Skin Biotic”, “Inflamedic Formula” and “Bio Balance” orals, liquid herb tonic and certain vital dietary changes.

It is important to note that the above regime is tailored specifically to Andras and he is monitored and the treatment is altered according to his status.

In May and October of 2004 and in May 2005, Dr Tirant visited Hungary and was able to see Andras and his dermatologist for updates.

Today, Andras enjoys a normal childhood, a far cry from the child that Dr. Tirant first saw. Andras attends school and can participate in sports and play with his friends. His prognosis for the future looks promising and it is hoped that his present, vastly improved, status can be maintained.
